PROJECTS Monolithic Inductor On October 31, 1997, a patent application was filed for a Monolithic Inductor that represents a radical advancement in the design of on-chip inductors. The newly designed inductor delivers performance that is many times that of on-chip inductors currently available and actually approaches the performance of discrete components which function outside integrated circuit (IC) architecture. The monolithic inductor is 100% compatible with current IC manufacturing technology and requires no additional steps to be included in the manufacturing process. Inductors and/or coils are used in the broadest range of electronic circuits for telecommunications applications. Since the Company's device can be easily included within an integrated circuit, it offers manufacturers dramatic cost reductions through simplified design, assembly and testing. In addition, the new device will allow for significantly increased miniaturization, a critical factor for electronics manufacturers circuit technology. This inductor is expected to have an immediate, dramatic impact on wireless communications as it is implemented in applications in the 1-Ghz band including digital/PCS cellphones and all microwave circuits. ©
